Trump dumps $10M into floundering GOP campaign accused of ‘pure sloppiness’: reports

A super PAC controlled by President Donald Trump has dumped millions of dollars on a cash-strapped GOP candidate fighting for his political life, campaign finance records show.

MAGA Inc. will spend $10 million on television and digital ads supporting Senate hopeful Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Morning Joe reporter Hugo Lowell announced on X.

Half of the cash will go towards messaging opposing Democratic candidate state Rep. James Talarico and half will promote Paxton, the filing indicates.

Elon Musk’s America PAC also coughed up about $250,000 to boost Paxton’s campaign, the Texas Tribune reported this week.

Paxton’s campaign has been plagued by cash problems in various ways.

The millionaire Republican struggled to fundraise, with MS NOW reporting Friday that new quarterly filings show Talarico brought in more than $31 million while Paxton raised only $9.3 million.

That troubling news arrived alongside another report on Paxton’s finances — one focused on federal ethics laws.

Propublica and the Texas Tribune revealed Paxton, in recent financial disclosures, reported owning seven homes that generated no income — despite residents and neighbors saying they were being rented out.

Nor did Paxton disclose mortgages for three condos at a Utah golf resort, according to the report.

Craig Holman, a government affairs lobbyist for the nonpartisan good-government group Public Citizen, reportedly responded, “It reflects either pure sloppiness on Paxton’s part or a deliberate effort to conceal some of his investments and property holdings.”
