Former Republican strategist turned anti-Trump commentator Rick Wilson spilled the beans on his “Against All Enemies” show Friday about how Democrats can put the screws to the president if they win the midterms in November.
For all their bluster otherwise, Wilson said, the White House is preparing for Democrats to be in charge: “They’re starting to talk about executive privilege, about lawyering up, about making sure that people have their ethics disclosures and their financial disclosures and their personal paperwork in line, that they haven’t saved any incriminating documents, and that they’re not going to be patsies when they get investigated by the coming Democratic majority.”
All of this, he said, proves they’re scared. What lingers is the questions of what Democrats will do with that power.
For starters, said Wilson, “Donald Trump absolutely deserves to be impeached and removed from office, and it’s not going to happen. We’re still not going to have the votes in the Senate.” But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing that can be done.
In particular, he continued, Democrats should take a page from the book of mob prosecutors, and work their way through Trump’s key staffers first.
“You’re going to start at the bottom,” said Wilson. And furthermore, “you’re not going to take your time doing it — you’re going to go fast. But it starts with the assistants and the secretaries and the career staffers who have to enable all this. It starts with the aides and the PR people. It starts down the chain.”
Specifically, said Wilson, Democrats should depose people like chief of staff Susie Wiles and deputy Stephen Miller, and even “that Bureau of Prisons guy who had to sign off on the request that came from some magical source to move Ghislaine Maxwell to a cushy prison.” All of them should fear for their futures, said Wilson — and be made to divulge Trump’s secrets.
The reason this is going to deliver results, said Wilson, is that “the guy who helped arrange the fraudulent pardons, the pay-for-play pardons at DOJ at the staff level — I’ll tell you a secret about that guy, whoever it is, that guy or guys or women, whatever — he does not have money” and can’t pay the big-name lawyers Trump can to protect him in hearings — “congressional hearings, by the way, which will be able to build out criminal referrals for a future Justice Department. Not this one, but a future one.”
Ultimately, said Wilson, the White House already is on edge that it will happen — and that fear “is delicious. It’s palpable. It’s growing by the minute. I’m so here for it, and you should be too.”
The bottom line, he added, is that “the minute the polls close and we know we’ve got a majority,” he added, Democrats should go after “all of them — Miller, Wiles, Natalie Harp, Kristi [Noem], RFK, Linda McMahon, go down the list, Pete Hegseth, go down the list. Every single one of them is involved in either the willful destruction of this country or the theft of assets from this country for the president’s benefit.”
“That fear needs to build,” he concluded. “It needs to grow into raging terror.”
