Morrissey cancels Las Vegas residency months after claiming lack of sleep left him in a ‘catatonic state’

Morrissey has canceled his upcoming Las Vegas residency — just months after lack of sleep forced him to pull the plug on another performance.

Ticket buyers were told on Friday via email that the former Smiths frontman’s four-show run at the Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater would no longer go ahead due to “unforeseen logistical challenges.”

“Hello, we regret to inform you that Morrissey – Live in Concert, scheduled for August 14, 15, 18, and 19 at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, has been canceled,” the email said, according to Rolling Stone.

“Due to unforeseen logistical issues, the scheduled Las Vegas residency cannot take place.”

Morrissey’s official website hasn’t acknowledged the cancelation yet. However, Wynn has removed the shows from their Entertainment page, and the Ticketmaster listings for the shows state, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

The latest cancellations come just months after Morrissey, 67, scrapped a concert in Spain after claiming he was suffering from severe “sleep deprivation.”

The “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” singer was scheduled to perform in Madrid in March but canceled the show shortly before he was due to take the stage.

At the time, Morrissey explained that he had been unable to sleep the night before because of loud construction near his hotel.

“An 8am drill is a drill too far,” he wrote in a statement, claiming the disruption left him in a “catatonic state.”

“I will need one year to recover,” he added.

Morrissey has developed a lengthy history of canceling or postponing concerts over the years.

In November 2025, he called off two shows in the US after receiving what his team described as a “credible death threat” ahead of a planned performance in Ottawa, Canada.

He also canceled a string of North American dates in 2024 after initially citing “unforeseen circumstances.”

Morrissey rose to fame as the lead singer of The Smiths alongside guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce in the 1980s.

Following the influential British rock band’s 1987 breakup, Morrissey launched a successful solo career.
