Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds has quietly redesigned his campaign website to remove numerous prominent references to President Donald Trump’s endorsement.
The GOP congressman’s site had previously centered almost entirely on Trump’s backing, but numerous prominent references to the increasingly unpopular president have vanished, reported the Miami Herald.
A homepage button urging supporters to “Chip in to Support Trump Endorsed Byron Donalds” has disappeared, and so has the page’s main headline read “TRUMP-ENDORSED Proven Conservative Fighter,” as well as a yellow banner declaring “ENDORSED BY PRESIDENT TRUMP!” and a separate section highlighting Trump’s 2025 endorsement quote, “RUN, BYRON, RUN!”
A photo of Donalds and his wife, Erika Donalds, posing with the president is no longer displayed on the campaign website, and Trump’s name now appears only within a scrolling banner of endorsements alongside figures including Elon Musk, Sen. Rick Scott, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Sen. Ted Cruz and Charlie Kirk — with no special emphasis.
According to the website-tracking service Visualping, the campaign removed at least eight references to Trump from the homepage alone.
The changes extend to Donalds’ policy page, where “Enact the Trump Agenda” previously topped his list of priorities, but it has been removed entirely, replaced by affordability as the page’s lead issue, with no mention of Trump anywhere on it.
Donalds is not the only Republican putting distance between himself and the president. Miami Rep. María Elvira Salazar recently released a campaign ad criticizing the administration’s mass immigrant detention and deportation policies, the Herald noted.
The shift marks a reversal for Donalds, who built his 2025 primary campaign around Trump’s endorsement, with much of his messaging referring to him as “Trump-endorsed Byron Donalds.”
During his primary victory speech in Orlando last month, however, Donalds did not mention Trump on stage at all, even as he praised other Republican figures including Scott.
Donalds’ campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the website changes.
