Posh Brentwood parents host gambling party for minors at $30M mansion where knife fight breaks out: suit

A wealthy hedge-fund manager and his wife are accused of hosting a gambling party for minors at their $30 million Brentwood home — only to have their son allegedly stab a 17-year-old guest, according to an explosive lawsuit.

Mario and Ann Marie Govic and their son, Jack, are named in the suit accusing the wealthy couple of throwing a party in August 2024 for “several young people” that featured card games for money.

One attendee, Noah Setareh, who was 17 at the time, allegedly handed over his valuable watch to Jack to hold as collateral for a claimed gambling debt, the suit says.

Later that afternoon, Setareh allegedly asked Jack for the watch back and “accurately explained that the watch was worth substantially more than the gambling debt,” according to the suit.

Jack allegedly refused to hand the watch over and said he was going to keep it until the debt was fully paid, the filing says.

The dispute then moved out to the driveway, where Setareh allegedly again asked for his watch back — leading Jack to whip out a knife, according to the suit.

“Without warning, Jack produced a butterfly knife and lunged the blade directly at the plaintiff,” the lawsuit claims. “The blade struck the plaintiff’s dominant right hand penetrating his palm and pink finger causing an open wound.”

The complaint says the alleged victim “experienced immediate and severe pain. In shock, terror and disbelief he screamed out ‘I’ve been stabbed.’”

Setareh “required immediate wound care and has received continuing medical treatment,” and “he continues to suffer physical pain and discomfort as well a visible scarring that reminds him of the attack,” the suit says.

Multiple people witnessed the incident, and it was only after the alleged stabbing that Mario Govic intervened and asked his son to return the watch, the suit says.

“The parent defendants knew that the minors gathered in their home were gambling and knew of the circumstances surrounding the gambling, including that money was being wagered and that Jack was holding the watch,” the suit claims.

Hi bio notes that he currently owns a handful of companies and is involved in numerous business ventures.

The family’s 12,000-square-foot mansion where the alleged stabbing took place boasts eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. It’s currently listed for $30 million.

Setareh is asking for a slew of damages including for physical pain, mental suffering emotional distress, disfigurement and loss of enjoyment of life, according to the lawsuit.
