It’s a ba da ba ba bad day to be this McDonald’s.
SoCal firefighters hosed down a San Bernardino McDonald’s that burst into flames Friday after a fire started near its PlayPlace.
Axing the golden arches and spreading water on the restaurant during a sweltering hot day in the Inland Empire, firefighters put out the blaze at the 200 block of 40th Street on the north end of San Bernardino in about an hour.

The first McDonald’s was founded in the city of San Bernardino, and San Bernardino County Fire officials pointed out the significance of the company to the area. The McDonald brothers opened the first McDonald’s in 1940 in the city of San Bernardino.
“In the city known as the birthplace of McDonald’s, the response brought firefighters to one of the most recognizable names in the community,” San Bernardino County Fire said in an Instagram post.

Video showed the McDonald’s chock-full of smoke, with the majority of it pouring out of the roof. Officials say there was light smoke above the indoor playground area, with the fire “burning inside an exterior wall and between the ceiling and the roof as well.”
Firefighters initiated a multi-pronged attack on the fire, hosing it down from the outside, roof, and interior.

“Battling high outdoor temperatures firefighters conducted an exterior fire attack from outside of the building, truck companies attacked the fire from the roof, while other firefighters conducted an interior attack from the inside of the building to suppress the fire,” officials said.
No civilians were hurt, officials said. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for a “heat-related issue.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
