Gypsy Rose Blanchard is setting the record straight on rumors of a potential custody battle with her late ex, Ken Urker, over their daughter, Aurora Raina.
In private text messages exchanged between the former couple before his death and shared with Page Six by Blanchard, the two discussed their decision to handle custody arrangements for Aurora without involving lawyers.
The conversation, dated Sept. 2, began with Urker informing Blanchard that he would be home Friday evening. She replied that she would leave Aurora with him and pick her up Sunday evening.
“I spoke to an attorney about getting that joint custody agreement and he said we would both have to come in and sign it and he can file it and it would be done,” Blanchard, 35, wrote. “It costs 1500 but it’s worth it for peace of mind for us both.”
“Regardless of if we stay together or not, it’s essential,” she added.
“There’s no need to involve lawyers unless you’re contesting the agreement,” Urker responded, adding, “It’s not necessary.”
“I thought it wasn’t legal unless it’s through lawyer,” Blanchard replied, before Urker wrote, “The only reason you would get lawyers involved is if you or I don’t agree to the arrangement we currently have.”
Blanchard and Urker welcomed Aurora, now 21 months old, in January 2025.
Following Urker’s tragic death at age 34 earlier this month, Blanchard shared never-before-seen photos of him with their daughter in an Instagram carousel, captioning the post, “You will always be my greatest love story. You will be remembered and loved forever. 
”
Urker was found dead at his home in Raceland, Louisiana, on Oct. 1, his 34th birthday, after a family member requested a welfare check when he failed to show up for work.
Blanchard’s sister-in-law, Anita Blanchard, could be heard in 911 dispatch logs telling a dispatcher that Urker had threatened suicide shortly before he was found, and authorities reportedly discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and a handgun at the scene.
Blanchard previously told People that she suspected Urker died of an overdose, saying she was unsure “if it was intentional or not” because he was “not in a good state of mind lately.”
She recently attended an intimate viewing for her late ex-fiancé and has since been invited by his family to attend his funeral in his native Texas.
Blanchard exclusively told Page Six that the last time she saw Urker in person was in September, when she surprised him with a Burger King delivery.
Alongside text messages documenting the interaction, she reflected on the encounter, telling Page Six in part, “It was such a simple, silly little moment, but one that now means more to me than I could ever put into words.”
