Katie Zacharia, a conservative commentator who briefly worked at the Department of Homeland Security, has been chosen as the next White House press secretary, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Ms. Zacharia will succeed Karoline Leavitt, who left the position in August. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is currently a communications adviser to Trump Media and Technology Group, which runs Truth Social. She had a brief stint working as a spokeswoman for then-Secretary Kristi Noem at the Department of Homeland Security and is a frequent guest on conservative media.
Ms. Zacharia lives in California and has worked with Fix California, a nonprofit founded by Ric Grenell, a Trump ally, to advance a conservative agenda in the state.
The White House and Ms. Zacharia did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
