Donald Trump voters in Alaska had little good to say about him as the price of fuel skyrockets and exploding inflation has them wondering how they will survive this winter.
MS NOW’s Alex Tabet headed up to Alaska, including tiny Dillingham, where he asked self-indentified Trump voters how they are faring while showing them a clip of the president saying if Americans “have to pay a little bit more” it is “okay.”
Three-time Trump voter Gayle Michaelson told MS NOW, “I would just say I’m disappointed in him. You know, Americans expected so much more. And what he promised isn’t happening.”
Ryan Boyer, also a three-time Trump voter, stated, “I mean, obviously that’s frustrating. You know, hearing, hearing promises and them not being kept.”
“None of the people can afford to hire me to work on their projects because they’re having to pinch their budget for heating fuel and gasoline for cars,” Trump voter Tyler Romo complained before adding, “I hoped that he would be able to live up to some of his hype, but he’s hyperbolic. That’s all he has ever been. His middle name ought to be hyperbole. He can’t deliver on any promises.”
Speaking with host Alexander, Tabet reported, “Well, the frustration is incredibly widespread, Peter, especially in towns like Dillingham. There are about 200 remote towns in Alaska which are off grid, which rely on their own electrical systems that run on diesel fuel, like here. And what that means is people, to heat their homes, spend about $500 every single month, a pack of diapers, for example, at the grocery store, costs $90.”
“The cost of living crisis is incredibly acute here. Now, how much that frustration towards President Trump and the fuel prices and the cost of living crisis is translating into the Senate race varies a lot voter to voter,” he observed.
