Carrot Top’s Las Vegas shows thrown into uncertainty as comedian remains hospitalized

Carrot Top’s Las Vegas shows at the Luxor Hotel and Casino are seemingly up in the air after the comedian was hospitalized Friday evening following an alleged suicide attempt.

According to TMZ, a show scheduled for Saturday evening has officially been canceled and the longtime Vegas staple remains hospitalized following the alleged incident and will “continue to receive care.”

TMZ reported on Friday evening that sources said the actor, 61, had been rushed to a Las Vegas hospital following a suicide attempt, and that his show for that evening was canceled.

Per the outlet, authorities were seen arriving at his residenceon Friday afternoon, with a bystander snapping a photo of three police vehicles outside the home.

Carrot Top’s representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed his hospitalization in a statement to Page Six, saying that he’s “recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs.”

“His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” she added.

Schlicher did not address the circumstances leading up to the hospitalization.

Reps for the Luxor Hotel and Casino did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday.

Carrot Top — whose given name is Scott Thompson — has been headlining his self-titled prop comedy show at the Atrium Showroom at the Luxor for more than two decades, beginning in November 2005.

The comedian also played himself in a number of onscreen cameos — most recently opposite Jean Smart in a 2024 episode of “Hacks,” which is set largely in Las Vegas.

The Vegas mainstay has also lent his wacky persona to series including “Scrubs,” “Robot Chicken,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and “Reno 911!”

He’s also been known to attach his influence to a good cause — back in 2015, he teamed with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center to form the Together Against Bullying (TAG) campaign, headlining a show in nearby Reno, Nevada, in support of the cause.

In comments at the time, the comedian said he “can relate” to kids who are bullied, noting that “Some kids actually commit suicide over this.”

“I have this kooky red hair, and people have made fun of me every freaking day,” he said. “So, this is a way raise awareness and donations for PACER to help put an end to bullying.”

He added, “I want kids to know that they are special and don’t have to be victims to bullies. They can succeed in life, do whatever they want. They can even become a comedian.”

If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or text Crisis Text Line at 741741.
