President Donald Trump took to Truth Social Sunday to make a startling admission regarding the tens of thousands of stock trades he’s made during his second term, insisting that they were done for the “country,” not himself.
“I do this for our Country, not myself. I’ve made Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks, and many other type Holdings, for the U.S.A., not myself, and all I do is get criticized by the Radical Left Dumocrats,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “Very unfair, but what can you do!”
Trump has made an unprecedented amount of stock trades during his second stint in the White House, including an estimated $194 million in trading volume in March of this year alone, according to Business Insider.
Alongside his message, Trump also shared a bizarre image likely generated with artificial intelligence that depicted himself sitting in the White House purchasing Intel stocks on a computer.
A CNN analysis also found dozens of instances in which Trump posted flattering messages about a firm, its executives or products within a week of purchasing related investments — purchases that are not made public immediately. The White House insists, however, that Trump does not direct his own stock trades, which are instead executed by outside money managers.
