‘Striking’ grassroots shift revealed in seething takedown of Trump and GOP ‘lickspittles’

A “striking” new shift in grassroots energy was revealed Friday in a scathing takedown of President Donald Trump and his fellow Republican, a political analyst revealed Friday.

Greg Sargent, staff reporter for the New Republic, shared his latest analysis on Trump poll numbers with a succinct summary on X.

“Striking,” wrote Sargent: “Internal polling from the Dem-aligned House Majority PAC finds strong dislike of Trump vastly outweighs strongly favorable sentiments toward him.”

In his report, Sargent revealed mounting local dislike for the president even in areas he won in the 2024 presidential election.

“The pattern is clear,” Sargent wrote. “Those who strongly disapprove of Trump outnumber strong approvers by nearly three to one.”

Democrats appear to hold the cards with a clear registration edge of 10 points, 49-39, when independents are included, Sargent wrote.

Trump’s problem, Sargent argued, is the conflicting narrative on inner-party politics coming from House Republicans such as Rep. James Comer, who recently admitted on Fox News that the president was hurting his midterm hopes.

“A lot of the individual members’ online donations are down because more of the small-dollar donors have gravitated towards MAGA Inc.,” Comer said of the Trump-steered super PAC.

Meanwhile, Sargent noted, Trump keeps claiming conservatives in Congress are failing him — and holding onto the cash.

“He isn’t even energizing his own voters all that much, and regardless, that group is massively dwarfed by those energized by their hatred of Trump to vote against Republicans,” wrote Sargent. “Really, it all couldn’t be happening to a bunch of nicer lickspittles.”
