‘Rigged’ Trump anniversary contest refuses to keep Sikh boy’s score: family

A Sikh teen suspects President Donald Trump’s civics competition was rigged after he gave a lot of right answers — and lost.

Aangad Singh, 15, told NOTUS Wednesday he and his mom cannot understand the loss he suffered in the America’s 250th anniversary Presidential 1776 Award competition for high schoolers.

“It doesn’t make sense,” said his mother, Ramandeep.

Singh’s mom was excited to see her son succeed in a contest hosted by “Saved By The Bell” actor Mario Lopez and aired on CBS, NOTUS reported.

With one exception: “The only thing missing was a scoreboard,” the report stated.

“Even the eventual winner said he was robbed,” NOTUS policy reporter Eric Katzcommented on X. Another contestant later told Singh’s mother the contestants had been keeping their own score, and “we thought you won.”

When Ramandeep tried to ask an Education Department official who ran the competition what the scores were, she was told it was “proprietary” information. Later, when the family sat down to watch the broadcast and take notes to try to figure out where their son missed any answers, they were surprised to find there was no scoreboard keeping track even there.

They were even more shocked when he gave correct answers that were marked for the audience as wrong, like when he cited “parties of state and citizens of another state” as an example of a case where federal courts have jurisdiction, and when he cited the Thirteenth Amendment as the amendment that abolished slavery.

It was an uncomfortable situation for the Singhs, Indian immigrants who “passed their faith in the United States down to Aangad, who won awards for his speeches about the country’s founding ideals,” and were now forced to sit “wondering whether the game was rigged.

“His uncle bluntly proclaimed, “They just made this whole thing for show. They know who they want to win.”

Trump’s America’s 250th celebration has been hounded by well-publicized disasters and disappointments , including the “Great American State Fair” that saw dismal turnout, boycotting by a number of states, mid-event withdrawal of sponsors, and accidents that nearly injured participants.
