Obama’s Got Jokes
During a rally in Atlanta on Wednesday, former President Obama doubled down on his earlier jab that Trump’s gold White House décor looks “like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory” and blasted Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for showing up at a Cheesecake Factory earlier this week.
“Multimillionaire hedge fund manager Scott Bessent really thinks we’re buying the bull [expletive] that he’s an Everyman,” Seth Meyers said on Thursday’s “Late Night.”
“After Barack Obama dissed Trump’s White House by saying it looked like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory, Bessent took issue with the comparison to a violent, repressive dictator. Oh, I’m sorry, he took issue with the comparison to Cheesecake Factory and decided to go to one himself.” — SETH MEYERS
“It’s lame enough that you went there for this stupid stunt, but don’t pretend you’re there all the time. You’re not the Norm of the Cheesecake Factory. When you walked in, nobody yelled, ‘Scott!’ They probably said, ‘Oh, [expletive], that looks like the landlord.’” — SETH MEYERS
“I will admit it’s funny to call it a ‘press conference’ at the Cheesecake Factory. We said it on Monday, we’ll say it again: Stand-up Comedy Obama is back. He’s working on material for his next special, ‘Hussein in the Membrane.’” — SETH MEYERS
“[imitating Obama] They held a press conference at the Cheesecake Factory. What’s next, a summit with Vladimir Putin at the Olive Garden?” — SETH MEYERS
“[imitating Obama] You guys know it’s not an actual factory, right? They don’t make the cheesecakes on an assembly line. These mother [expletive] probably think Chuck E. Cheese is real. Trump’s going to make him come to his next meeting with Elon Musk. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine that? A giant animatronic rat meeting with Chuck E. Cheese.” — SETH MEYERS
“How did we have that, and now we have this? It’s as if we traded in a Ferrari for a folding chair.” — JIMMY KIMMEL, comparing Obama and Trump
“In fairness to Trump, the menu at the Cheesecake Factory is the closest he gets to reading a book.” — JIMMY KIMMEL
The Punchiest Punchlines (Tail End Edition)
“During his rally last night in Ohio, President Trump discussed Jon Husted, Republican senator’s, physique again and said, ‘I started by looking at his [expletive] and it was strong as hell.’ Oh, my God, you’re still doing the [expletive] stuff? Did someone accidentally load the ‘Heated Rivalry’ books into your teleprompter?” — SETH MEYERS
“The G.O.P. is still struggling to find a campaign message beyond ‘Check out the dump truck on this guy.’” — JORDAN KLEPPER
“It somehow hasn’t resonated with voters. Sorry, our nation’s more of a boob guy. What can I say?” — JORDAN KLEPPER
