A MAGA lawmaker threatened to subpoena the CIA on Wednesday unless it agreed to turn over specific documents to Congress within the next 24 hours, according to a new report.
Rep. Ana Paulina Luna (R-FL) said she plans to subpoena the CIA unless it returns boxes of documents the agency took from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s office that were being processed for declassification, NewsNation reported. The documents pertain to the CIA’s activities during John F. Kennedy’s assassination in the 1960s and the CIA’s MK Ultra program from the Cold War.
“The CIA has 24 hours to return the documents to Tulsi Gabbard’s office or else I will make a motion to issue a subpoena,” Luna wrote in a post on X. “These documents have been requested by Congress.”
The files are just the latest example of documents that allies of President Donald Trump have sought to declassify related to prominent conspiracy theories. Other documents they have sought to release include files related to the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., and files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
