Donald Trump’s Federal Housing Administration Director Bill Pulte, known as an attack dog for the president, and Department of Justice official Ed Martin are at the center of a Maryland grand jury investigation for hires that were made to pursue investigations aimed at President Donald Trump’s critics.
According to a new report from MS NOW’s Ken Dilanian and Carol Leonnig, the inquiry is related to the mortgage fraud investigations of Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The report notes that “unauthorized” individuals were retained to assist with the investigations and, by their participation, could have “tainted” the cases being made against the two Democrats as part of Trump’s revenge agenda.
The report notes the FBI has become involved.
Pulte is already under a cloud after being accused of firing staffers at Fannie Mae who were engaged in investigating one of his close allies.The Washington Post reported, “Now there are fewer independent voices at the government-backed company — one of two that underpin the gigantic U.S. mortgage market — to push back on Pulte’s unpredictable and aggressive leadership style, ethics experts and people familiar with the matter said.”
Martin also carries substantial baggage, having been passed over for a U.S. attorney position that was later handed to Fox News personality Jeanine Pirro.
