Vice President JD Vance’s Montana rally was thrown off course Monday when a heckler began shouting from the crowd, setting off boos and “USA” chants as she was escorted out.
A woman began shouting as Vance spoke at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Belgrade. It was not immediately clear what she shouted. The crowd quickly booed and drowned her out with chants of “USA” as she was escorted from the hangar.
As he struggled to regain control of the situation, Vance said, “Now of course, now you can rest assured that in any event that we do, you are going to a few yahoos who pretend that the Democrats aren’t who they already have shown themselves to be.”
Vance was in Montana to rally for Republican Senate candidate Kurt Alme and House candidate Aaron Flint, whose race in western Montana against Democrat Sam Forstag has been tighter than expected.
The incident is the latest in a string of disruptions at rallies as President Donald Trump and Vance try to boost Republican turnout ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms.
At a Kalispell, Montana, rally earlier this month, Trump was confronted by a protester, prompting him to complain, “That’s not nice!”
At a rally in Wasilla, Alaska, for Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK), a protester interrupted Trump’s remarks, prompting him to say, “Sounds like we have a spoiled child.”
