A verified photo of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles’ daughter holding a rifle beside a Bosnian official is adding to mounting scrutiny of Trumpworld’s ties to a pro-Russia political party, CBS News reported.
The network confirmed Thursday exclusively that Katie Wiles was photographed in Republika Srpska, Bosnia’s semi-autonomous region, beside its interior minister, Željko Budimir.
The image apparently came from her Instagram account, with the caption, “mostly work + some serious fun!” But it only raises “further questions about possible White House links” to Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik,” according to CBS News.
Wiles is a partner at Continental Strategy, a Washington lobbying firm registered to represent Republika Srpska. A firm spokesperson said her two-day August visit involved a different client conducting a feasibility study.
“Wiles has not spoken with any United States Government official regarding Srpska,” the spokesperson told CBS News.
A White House official told the outlet on Thursday that President Donald Trump’s chief of staff “does not discuss work matters with her daughters.”
But the photo emerged at an awkward time for the White House. Trump on Wednesday distanced himself from advisers James Blair and Chris LaCivita following reports that they helped campaign for the region’s pro-Russian party.
“I do not have any idea who else they work for but will, on reflection, ask them and, if there’s a conflict, I will terminate them immediately!” Trump wrote.
