More than 122,000 cases of Gatorade have been recalled for failing to declare the presence of synthetic food dyes.
The recall affects 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero that were distributed to more than three dozen states, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
The sports drinks contain undeclared synthetic food dyes Yellow No. 6 and/or Yellow No. 5, which, in rare cases, can trigger allergic-type reactions, according to the FDA. The regulatory agency requires color additives to be declared on product labels.
The lot labels on the recalled PepsiCo products have dates ranging from April 2027 to June 2027.
The voluntary recall was initiated on Sept. 25 and classified as a Class II recall, or one in which “the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” on Friday.
PepsiCo did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
