Earlier in January, Oakley unveiled its dedicated booth at the PGA Tour, providing a glimpse into the brand’s foray into golf. The Oakley Edge Icon, a bold footwear design which approached high-performance sporting gear beyond the realm of eyewear, made a strong impression amongst attendees. A partnership with J.R. Smith and the launch of the “Artifacts From the Future” campaign saw Oakley gaining momentum as a strong golf wear contender.
“Future Genesis,” Oakley’s latest sci-fi-inspired campaign, deploys dystopian landscapes, steely atmospheres and hyper-futuristic visual motifs to actualize the kinetic future Oakley envisions to outfit. In a new collaborative apparel drop with the Hypegolf Label, these themes materialize in a sartorial language. Refined and minimalistic, the collection exudes an air of cool that mirrors the brand’s brazen eyewear aesthetics.
Part of Oakley’s design DNA is blending high-tech functionality with unconventional silhouettes. Cutting-edge and art-like, these innovative forms rethink how fundamental objects can be engineered for excellence, thus transcending their nature. The Oakley x Hypegolf collection embodies this philosophy, arming the body with adaptive and intuitive silhouettes. The C1 Engineered Exo Polo moves in sync with the body, crafted from jacquard knit that provides zonal breathability and Hydrolix fabric technology to wick away moisture. A hidden eyewear loop at the placket and ellipse logo stealthily nod to Oakley’s heritage and signature design language.
A sleek layering piece, the C1 Bark Pullover continues this performance-first aesthetic. Its quarter-zip design features a raised mock collar and a moisture-wicking jacquard shell, aiding dynamic movement. Oakley’s logo appears on the front center with vertical Hypegolf lettering on the back panel. Other statement designs include the no-frills Driven Tee, a double-knit crewneck with an eyewear loop at the back collar. Wicking technology and an optimized blend of cotton, polyester, and spandex deliver a seamless body drape, offering ample ventilation at the tee. A co-branded performance, six-panel cap tops of the collection, engineered with laser cut holes on the side panels to facilitate optimal air flow, and a curved brim that maximizes coverage from the sun.
Subtle branding elements and a tonal color scheme featuring cool-toned gray and blue colorways unify both Hypegolf and Oakley’s distinct design identities. These aerodynamic details seem plucked from the set of Blade Runner, yet they offer sophisticated sporting appeal for the course and elsewhere. The collection will appear in the recently opened Hypegolf Clubhouse, located in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood. In-store displays will also feature the brand’s vast eyewear collection, including the future-bound Plantaris, Lateralis and Masseter lines.
This year alone, Oakley has reestablished itself as a mainstay in the sports sector while maintaining its fashion-forward sensibilities. The brand’s edgy, disruptive eyewear and extensive apparel range feel like relics from a not-so-distant future — engineered for the visionaries of today and tomorrow. With a new generation of players redefining the sport of golf, Team Oakley is ready for whatever the future brings.
