This is the moment an unhinged high school student in Brazil tries to knife her teacher after her mathematics exam was graded.
The horrifying incident happened Sept. 11 at Dr. Gerson dos Santos State School in Cametá, a city in the northeastern state of Pará.
The terrifying video shows the 17-year-old girl, whose name has been withheld because she is a minor, standing near Betânia de Almeida’s desk in an empty classroom when she starts fidgeting with her hair.
Suddenly, the young hellion whips out a hunting knife and lunges for the educator.
A shocked de Almeida dodges the blade and desperately tries to wrestle the knife from her unhinged pupil who appears to connect with one of her strokes.
The girl nearly stabbed her a second time near her face in the wild scrum, video shows.
De Almeida then bolts from the classroom with the deranged student in hot pursuit.
The student, who is in the 11th grade, was arrested on the scene and told officer that she attacked de Almeida because she disliked her, according to a Pará Civil Police report.
De Almeida was rushed to Cametá Regional Hospital, where she received stitches and was discharged Saturday, according to the school. A CT scan showed that the stab wound didn’t affect any of her organs.
A stunned family member told Brazilian news outlet G1 that de Almeida had finished grading the student’s test when nearly lost her life.
While it’s unknown if the teen is still in police custody, Cametá-based lawyer Thays Cruz told The Post that she is not “criminally liable” because she is a minor and will be slapped with an infraction that is similar to attempted homicide in accordance with the rules of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent.
“Here, we use the term ‘socio-educational measure’ for any penalty imposed on a minor who commits a crime,” Cruz said. “In her case, given the seriousness of the attempted homicide, I believe a measure involving confinement could be applied.”
The Union of Public Education Workers of Pará denounced the attack and called on law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident.
“Violence against education is violence against all of society,” the union said UNI.
The Post reached out to the Pará State Department of Education and the Pará Civil Police.
