In a time of hyper-personalized algorithms, there’s no scientific way to determine an official song of the summer. But that didn’t stop us from trying.
Weighing factors like chart position, temporal specificity, cultural impact and online omnipresence, our Popcast hosts Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli chose eight songs in the running for the title and pitted them against each other until a winner emerged.
