  • President Donald Trump has added numerous new paintings and sculptures to the White House.
  • Some pieces are from the White House Collection, and others were acquired from contemporary artists.
  • Trump’s assassination attempt has inspired multiple pieces of White House artwork.

Among the sweeping changes President Donald Trump has made to the White House during his second, non-consecutive term, one is a particular interest in curating its artwork.

He has added five new statues to the White House Rose Garden, covered the Oval Office in gold pieces and presidential portraits from the White House Collection, and hung photos and paintings of himself in several rooms.

When reached for comment, White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Business Insider, “President Trump continues to implement long-overdue and necessary renovations to beautify the People’s House as we celebrate our great Nation’s 250th anniversary of independence.”

“Thanks to the Builder-in-Chief, the White House will be properly glorified and remain in excellent condition for generations to come,” Ingle said.

Here’s a look at the artwork that Trump has added to the White House.

In the Cross Hall, Trump replaced a portrait of President Barack Obama with one of himself painted by artist Marc Lipp in April 2025.

The painting depicts his defiant response following an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Also that month, a portrait of Trump was placed between two first ladies’ portraits.

The portrait of Trump was painted by Elena Ruseva, who works under the name MAGA Langelo.

Trump also uses the painting, in which his face is overlaid with an American flag, as his Truth Social profile photo. It’s titled “Free America. Trump.”

In May 2025, a statue depicting Trump’s attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, was displayed next to the Resolute Desk.

In July 2025, Trump redecorated the Cabinet Room with artwork from the White House Collection and gold medallions.

The Cabinet Room was sparsely decorated in previous administrations. In July 2025, Trump told reporters he had selected presidential portraits from the White House Vault to display in the Cabinet Room and was “very proud of it.”

Trump said he chose a portrait of James K. Polk because he was “a very good president” and “a real estate guy,” and added portraits of George Washington, John Adams, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Dwight Eisenhower.

Trump added photos of himself with world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, to the Palm Room in September 2025.

In October 2025, Trump acquired a bronze sculpture of an eagle atop Article I of the US Constitution for the Oval Office.

Titled “The American Patriot,” the sculpture by artist Lorenzo Ghiglieri measures nearly 4 feet tall. The eagle is depicted carrying an olive branch in one talon and 13 arrows in the other.

It was originally commissioned by Mark Russo, founder and chairman of Foundry Michelangelo, in 2006.

The Presidential Walk of Fame has portraits of past presidents, and Trump’s commentary about their legacies was added in December 2025.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters in December 2025 that Trump himself wrote the text displayed on many of the plaques summarizing the former presidents’ administrations and their time in the White House.

The president used the display to criticize former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen, displaying a photo of the device instead of his predecessor.

At Trump’s request, a bronze statue of George Washington was moved from the Washington Monument to the Rose Garden in October 2025.

The statue is a reproduction of a marble statue displayed in Virginia’s state capitol.

The original artist, Jean-Antoine Houdon, visited Washington at his home at Mount Vernon in 1785 to take his measurements and capture a plaster of his face for the piece, according to the Virginia General Assembly.

In March, two more statues of Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Hamilton appeared in the White House Rose Garden.

The White House said that the statues were on loan from a private citizen’s collection. The Washington Post identified the donor as Harlan Crow, a billionaire Republican donor and board chair of Crow Holdings.

Trump also placed a statue of Christopher Columbus outside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the White House in March.

The statue is a replica of a piece that was displayed in Baltimore’s Little Italy and toppled into the Inner Harbor during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.

Gifted to the White House by the Italian American Organizations United, the statue’s pedestal reads that it was “destroyed” on July 4, 2020, “resurrected” in 2022, and “rededicated by President Donald J. Trump, October 13, 2025.”

“In this White House, Christopher Columbus is a hero, and President Trump will ensure he’s honored as such for generations to come,” the White House said in a statement after its installation.

“Freedom’s Charge,” a 14-foot-tall statue by Chas Fagan, was added to the Rose Garden in April.

“Freedom’s Charge” depicts two Revolutionary War soldiers: a Continental soldier holding a rifle and a Minuteman militia member holding a Battle of Bunker Hill flag, according to Carolina Bronze Sculpture, the foundry where Fagan is the resident artist.

During his first term, Trump appointed Fagan to the US Commission of Fine Arts.

The latest addition to the Rose Garden was a bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson sculpted by George Lundeen, installed in July.

In a statement shared with Business Insider, Lundeen called Jefferson’s writing box “the centerpiece of this composition.”

“The National Library in Washington, DC, was kind enough to give me photographs and measurements that I needed to make the box authentic,” he said. “Designed by Jefferson, this box holds its place in history as the place the Declaration of Independence was written.”

The Oval Office has undergone one of the more striking transformations.

Trump added portraits of George Washington, Ronald Reagan, Benjamin Franklin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and William Henry Harrison to the Oval Office.

He also chose gold urns and baskets dating from the 1800s to display on the mantel, gold medallions for the walls, and gold cherubs from his Mar-a-Lago estate to adorn the doors.

In their book “Regime Change,” New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan wrote that Trump reportedly superglued the gold furnishings onto the fireplace mantel himself.
