Deadly Texas flood sweeps away deer in heartbreaking video — as emergency warnings issued in city where Camp Mystic tragedy struck

Tragic video shows a herd of deer being swept away in Texas as flooding turns deadly in the Lone Star State.

Two flash flood emergencies are in place in Hill Country as of Thursday, with one affecting Kerrville – the scene of 2025’s deadly flooding at Camp Mystic, which killed 28 people, including 25 young campers.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott revealed that one person has died in the flooding and that the death was reported “between the Kerrville and Comfort area.”

Evacuations and water rescues were reported overnight in Kerrville, Hunt, Knippa, and Uvalde, with warnings of life-threatening flash flooding and reports of water entering buildings, ABC 13 reported.

In Hunt, the Guadalupe River rose from 9 to 19 feet between 3 and 4 a.m. local time Thursday, with fears also raised about the structural integrity of a bridge over the river on Highway 87 in Comfort, Texas.

The National Weather Service elevated the flash flood emergency on Thursday to say a “large and deadly flood wave” had begun along the Guadalupe River around Kerrville, and was moving downstream through Center Point.

At Center Point, the river gauge rose 32 feet in just four hours, and was expected to reach a similar crest to last year’s devastating floods – which killed a total of 100 people, including the 28 at Camp Mystic.
