Winter is coming, but the new Brooklyn Pacha DJ lineup is extra hot

Temps may be dropping, but New York’s party scene is just heating up.

Pacha is bringing the party inside — and the City’s newest nightclub has a tough act to follow after its successful takeover of East Williamsburg’s former Brooklyn Mirage site (which sits next door to their new space) this summer.

It was hardly a simple undertaking. FIVE Holdings, Pacha’s Dubai-based parent company, had to navigate permits, logistical hurdles and the sky-high expectations of New Yorkers still nostalgic for the palm-tree-laden Mirage of 2015. Pacha had lots to live up to, and the job isn’t over yet.

“New York deserves great nightlife all year round,” Pacha Group’s CEO Aloki Batra, told The Post in an exclusive statement. “We experienced Brooklyn’s incredible dance floor energy during Pacha New York’s summer season this year, and Brooklyn Pacha carries that spirit through the winter indoors, before Pacha New York returns outdoors in May.”

Brooklyn Pacha moves into the former Great Hall, an 11,175-square-foot warehouse space with soaring ceilings, exposed industrial architecture and jaw-rattling sound and lighting systems. The room is framed by 13-by-13-foot LED screens, 12 additional LED installations and over 450 lighting fixtures. That’s rave speak for a whole lot of strobes and lasers.

Think underground-club atmosphere, with all the above-ground comforts: a backstage VIP section, plenty of bathrooms, space to break and fully serviced bars.

The international party brand pulled off a remarkable debut season — and if its winter lineup is any indication, they’re nowhere near done.

The open-air season drew major headliners, packed crowds, several sold-out shows and some celebrity sightings (Travis Scott, Pete Davidson and Lizzo were all spotted backstage). And yes, even New York’s notoriously hard-to-impress nightlife crowd seemed won over.

“I had a blast at Pacha New York today, and that is a sentence I never thought I would say,” was the verdict from Mary Wolff, who runs the NYC Rave Girls account with her best friend. “The whole show felt like a love letter to New York.” The caption spoke for itself: “I fear, I like it a lot.”

The Rave Girls weren’t alone. The Post caught a few (maybe, several) of the summer’s late-night affairs, from Black Coffee’s opening weekend to Halloweekend’s outdoor finale with Grammy-winning producer Kaytranada. And we’ll admit: Pacha did what many thought was near-impossible. They didn’t replace the Mirage, but built a space that set a new standard for NYC nightlife.

At the Halloweekend show, Kaytranada dropped hit after hit — “Intimidated,” “Witchy,” and a slew of soulish yet bouncy mixes in between. Anderson .Paak came out as a surprise guest. And the whole time, the costumed crowd danced completely un-self-consciously. And maybe that’s the point: at a time when dance floors feel strangely short on actual dancing, Pacha’s crowd never stops moving. My friend, who’d only been to Pacha Ibiza, left and said the New York outpost “matches the energy” of its swanky sibling. That’s no small compliment.

The summer lineup had some surprises, too. Cardi B broke up the usual DJ roster with a one-night-only show. Elrow brought its signature theatrical excess, serpents and confetti included. A standout selector was ZHU, the producer behind the party anthem “Faded,” whose breathy vocals (he sings over samples) and mind-bending visuals had me immediately texting my considerably more house-savvy friends to declare his the best set I’d heard in years.

The next question is whether Brooklyn Pacha can sustain the momentum as they move the party inside — and the answer will be delivered this weekend.

This Friday, the venue kicks off its winter season with a killer triple bill: German DJ and producer Loco Dice, Italian techno mainstay Ilario Alicante and rising house music star HoneyLuv. Expect rolling, groove-heavy rhythms, snips of hip-hop influence and, if the selectors are feeling generous, maybe some extended sets. Saturday morning plans may need to be cancelled.

Saturday night brings another kind of celebration: the 35th anniversary of Nervous Records, the New York-born house label whose influence has tapped dance floors across the world. The lineup includes house pioneers Louie Vega and Oscar G plus special guest Victor Calderone. The night should feel like equal parts party and reunion, especially for more serious fans of the genre.

Indoor Pacha is aiming for the feel of a dedicated dance-music space, without sacrificing the conveniences that make dancing until 4 AM feel a bit more civilized.

If the Pacha team brings the same vision and attention to detail that defined its first season, the indoor venue should have little trouble finding its own groove. And considering the fact that New Yorkers stop at nothing to get the party on, they’re expected to keep up the turnout.

“Through both venues, we hope to earn our place within New York’s extraordinary music culture — creating spaces where people come for the music, feel connected, welcomed, and part of something special,” Batra shared ahead of the season’s opening party.

After this weekend, the upcoming winter season will also welcome an impressive roster of DJs, from Nora En Pure and Madeon to Guy Gerber and A-Trak. And with opening-weekend tickets starting at just $40 including fees, there’s hardly an excuse not to see what all the fuss is about yourself.

We’ll see you on the dance floor.

What is it like going to Pacha New York?

In late June, Pacha opened at 140 Stewart Avenue in Williamsburg, which was the site of the former Brooklyn Mirage.

The Postattended the venue’s opening and saw Black Coffee spin deep into the night.

“The brand, known for its stripped-back approach to nightlife, keeps the focus squarely on the music. From its iconic twin cherries logo to no-frills, dance floor-first design — low lighting, minimal staging, no chintzy decor — Pacha Group favors reducing spectacle to amplify sound, and properly frame the DJ.”
