At least six people were injured in a mass shooting at a Halloween party Saturday night near the University of Delaware — sending costumed college kids fleeing in the chaos.
Cops were called to a crowded stretch of downtown Newark, Del., shortly after 11 p.m.
Witnesses said Main Street was packed with people celebrating Halloween when multiple shots were fired, sending the terrified crowd scattering.

“People were running, screaming. They had helicopters in the sky flashing lights on people,” witness Jayden Ngalim told NBC Philadelphia.
“The people were speeding down the road. It got chaotic like quick,” he added.
Another witness described hearing a popping sound before people began running for cover.
“I was right there on the corner and all we hear is like sharp pops. People, we’re thinking at first it’s the cars and then everyone starts running,” Nathaniel Davila said.
A third witness, Landon Singleton, described rushing over to one of the victims, removing his shirt, and pressing it against his gunshot wound.
“He squeezed my hand, like his last hope,” he said.

The university issued an emergency alert just before 11:30 p.m. notifying students and others of the incident and warning them to avoid the area.

All six victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment, where their conditions were unknown as of Sunday morning.
No details have been released about any arrests or suspects.
