Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game officially launched in the summer of 2026, but a major new update aims to draw in new players with major overhauls and a ton of new content.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 and Revamps Two Fighters
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game had some positive buzz at launch, but many casual fighting game fans were a bit intimidated by the game’s difficulty. The latest update to the title makes some pretty massive changes that aim to expand the potential audience and bring in new fans.
Patch 4 is the biggest update to Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game since launch. Two fighters have been totally rebuilt, a completely new look has been implemented across the entire game, ranked play has been updated, a balance pass adjusted every character on the roster, and lots of quality of life updates are included.
Here is a full breakdown of everything in the major update:
- Avatar State Aang & Nightmare Korra, Reimagined
- Two legends, redrawn from the ground up with additional attacks and new super techniques that transform how they play.
- A Completely Refreshed Look
- Everything from menus to modes has been redesigned. Character select, stage select, the in-match HUD, and every screen in between get a cleaner, bolder presentation.
- Two New Stages
- Avatar Road and Air Temple Island are now available to play outside of Story Mode!
- Ranked Mode 2.0
- Competitive play returns rebuilt, with a ranked ladder built for the long climb, plus Spectating.
- Battle Balance Update
- Every character on the roster has been rebalanced. Every matchup is worth a fresh look.
- More Ways to Play
- Single player gets deeper with Story Mode+, expanded Arcade content, and beginner friendly Lobbies.
- Learn the Fundamentals
- New tutorials and Combo Trials break the game down step by step, whether it’s your first match or your thousandth.
- Modes, Upgraded
- Stages that were unique to Story Mode are now available in Local and Online VS Modes, music tracks are selectable right from stage select, and Training Mode gets an expanded set of options.
- Quality of Life
- Difficulty settings for Story Mode and Gallery Mode improvements.
Additionally, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game is now officially available on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99 USD SRP, featuring full cross-play support. Existing owners of the Nintendo Switch version will also be eligible for a free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade, coming soon.
