A bombshell documentary has accused Sen. Lindsey Graham of having intercourse with three male sex workers, including one who said he was just 17 at the time.
The film, called The Closetocracy and made by an activist group called Swamp Watch, which claims to exist to “expose the political class,” was aired on the progressive news site The Young Turks Thursday.
It includes in-depth interviews with the workers.
Kelvin, as the man who claimed he was 17 is identified, details his allegations of an underage sexual encounter.
“Being a powerless 17-year-old, I was like, what’s going on here?” Kelvin said. “Something is going to happen that I’m not going to be in control of.”
Kelvin is one of three men who share stories claiming they were being paid by Graham for sex. Their stories are contextualized with receipts and tickets for travel that correspond with Graham’s public schedule — though nothing conclusively puts the men and Graham together.
Graham (R-SC) denied throughout his lifetime that he was gay — as he voted against the Respect for Marriage Act, which codified the federal right to same sex marriage, the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would have banned discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Kelvin details a painful childhood, facing bullying in school for being gay and pressure at home to drop out and earn money for his impoverished family.
At the age of 16, Kelvin decided to become a male escort, he said. One year later, in July 2001, Kelvin was summoned to Arizona by Graham, he claimed.
News reports from the time show Graham was in Arizona meeting with Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT).
Kelvin said he was told to come in through a side door, as Graham was staying at a friend’s house. He said he found what he described as a movie scene of a construction site with black tarps and open beams.
“It looked staged,” Kelvin said. “It looked as though it was made or set up to be a film set specifically for what looked like very extreme porn.”
Kelvin said he undressed then found himself arguing with Graham about his age. In the documentary, Kelvin says Graham repeatedly insisted he wasn’t 18 — and Kelvin kept insisting he was because, he said, he needed the $120 he’d been promised.
Finally, Kelvin claimed Graham demanded he promise he was 18, and Kelvin suspects his answer was recorded.
Kelvin recalls the sexual encounter in detail, then describes a conversation he had with Graham before he left. Kelvin said he thought Graham felt ashamed of being homosexual, and decided to share his own personal philosophy.
“I just want you to know that God thinks it’s okay for you to be gay,” Kelvin said he told Graham. “He kind of looked at me, like, ‘Why are you talking to me like an adult?’”
