Selma Blair’s “total psychotic blackout” aboard a Delta flight 10 years ago has resurfaced following the actress’ arrest for allegedly biting a flight attendant and attacking another crew member during a separate midair incident.
The “Legally Blonde” star, 54, was arrested Sunday after she allegedly punched one flight attendant, bit another and attempted to open the plane’s door while traveling from Los Angeles to New York City.
But this isn’t Blair’s first midair incident.
The “Cruel Intentions” star was traveling from Cancun, Mexico, to Los Angeles with her then-4-year-old son, Arthur, and his father, fashion designer Jason Bleick, when the disturbing incident unfolded in June 2016.

According to witnesses at the time, Blair was drinking wine in first class when she suddenly began crying and making alarming statements about a man abusing her. She reportedly said, “He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink.”
The witnesses said she continued, “He beats me. He’s going to kill me.”
Two nurses aboard the flight reportedly tried to help the actress, while the pilot alerted authorities that a passenger may have mixed alcohol and medication.
When the plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport, medical personnel boarded and removed Blair on a stretcher. She was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Blair subsequently took responsibility for the incident, admitting in a statement to Vanity Fair that she had mixed alcohol with medication and blacked out.

“I made a big mistake yesterday,” she said at the time. “I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed.”
She added that her son had been asleep with his father during the episode, describing herself as “filled with shame over this incident.”
Months later, Blair addressed the ordeal on “The Talk,” where she called ita “total psychotic blackout.”
“I am someone who should never drink, and I rarely do, and I don’t drink anymore, but I was going through something,” she explained. “I had a glass of wine and someone gave me a pill that I thought was something that I’d taken before … it was something completely different.”
“It was horrible and frightening,” she added, saying she felt especially embarrassed that photographers had captured her being taken off the plane.

Blair revisited the incident in 2024, describing the experience as “horrifying and humiliating” in an interview with Us Weekly.
“I was so messed up and dehydrated and hungover and didn’t know I had neurological issues,” she told the outlet. “I didn’t understand anything. I had to grow up.”
Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 and revealed in 2021 that she was in remission for the debilitating disease.
The latest incident unfolded Sunday, Oct. 11, aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York City. Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant, bit another and attempted to open the aircraft’s door mid-flight.
The flight landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport ahead of schedule, where law enforcement officers were waiting. Blair was arrested and taken to a hospital for evaluation.

She also allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head while being transported to the hospital and assaulted a nurse after arriving.
Blair — who posted on social media just before the incident — faces federal assault charges related to the alleged in-flight incident, as well as state charges stemming from the alleged assaults on the officer and nurse.
A representative for the actress told Page Six that Blair experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct and was in stable condition after receiving medical attention.
Delta also condemned the alleged behavior, telling Page Six that the airline has “zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior” and that the safety of its customers and crew comes first.
The FBI is investigating the latest incident.
