Legendary veteran Democratic strategist James Carville went toe to toe with Fox News’ Will Cain on Friday, discussing Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.
Cain tried to corner Carville on a few times El-Sayed, who himself has gone on Fox News for high-drama interviews, didn’t give a direct answer on Iran and Israel on certain occasions — but Carville had a ready retort.
“It should be easy, right?” said Cain. “Sayed does this thing, and you’ve been there, James, you were good at it. He pivots to gas, pivots to housing, and those are ‘real issues’. Affordability, gas, all that. But he can’t do it to every question. Foreign policy is part of a senator’s job, and so if you can’t distinguish between an ally and an enemy, I just think that’s a very legitimate thing for voters to know.”
“Again, foreign policy is a big issue. Ask Darline Graham where Taiwan is,” said Carville, referencing the recently-appointed South Carolina senator who admitted she knew nothing about Taiwan when asked at a debate. “I think that might be the biggest issue that we have!”
“I bet you El-Sayed knows where Iran is. I bet you he knows where Israel is,” added Carville. “He’s probably the highest IQ person to ever run for the Senate.”
“I won’t even rob you of your point of his intelligence,” said Cain. “It just raises deeper questions then about why he can’t make an answer to a simple question.”
