President Donald Trump’s new White House press secretary appears to have tried to scrub parts of her online past before taking the role.
Katie Zacharia, named to the post Friday, has a “sordid online history” she seemingly worked to wipe from view, The Bulwark reported Saturday.
Zacharia previously served as a spokeswoman for then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, appeared regularly on Fox News and Newsmax and most recently advised Trump Media and Technology Group.
Among the posts she deleted, The Bulwark found a series calling for the suspension of habeas corpus, a bedrock safeguard against unlawful detention.
She posted them in reply to White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, who had claimed sanctuary cities amount to a criminal conspiracy.
In another since-deleted tweet from June 2025, Zacharia told California Gov. Gavin Newsom that “the federal government under @realDonaldTrump should take over all of California because clearly you can’t be trusted to do a single thing.”
She also used a now-defunct Twitter account in 2022, the report said, to repeatedly call Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates “a eugenicist” who “was pushing for everyone to get a toxic jab.”
In August, she reposted an article claiming “8 in 10 women had a miscarriage after getting the COVID vaccine,” a figure The Bulwark noted scientific data doesn’t support.
Zacharia has also insisted the 2020 election was stolen and has repeatedly urged Trump to seek a third term in 2028, which the Constitution explicitly bars.
Her devotion to Trump runs deep enough that she once suggested he could do without someone in her new role.
“President Trump does not need a spokesperson,” she posted to X last month. “He is his own best Press Secretary.”
The Bulwark suggested one deleted post in particular could make for awkward moments with her new colleagues. Replying to conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich last December, she warned the midterms would be a “bloodbath if [Republicans] don’t shift course now.”
The White House did not respond to The Bulwark’s request for comment before the story was published.
