Ryan Reynolds held nothing back when discussing Justin Baldoni in private text messages.
“It’s amazing to me that you can have everybody involved with a production completely run away from a person who is obviously a predator and sociopath and the narrative must first land on why a woman is the problem,” the “Deadpool” star wrote to author Colleen Hoover in an Aug. 10, 2024, text included in newly unsealed court documents obtained by Page Six.
Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, filed a complaint against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging he sexually harassed her while filming “It Ends With Us,” based on Hoover’s novel of the same name. Baldoni denied the allegations.

“It’s amazing to me how low people still go,” he continued. “But people are already coming forward and soon enough someone is just gonna go on record.”
The messages were exchanged as Lively, 39, faced backlash while promoting the film about domestic violence that Baldoni, 42, directed and starred in alongside her.
“It’s mind blowing,” Hoover responded. “But also I feel like the loud ones are mostly 13-year-olds who don’t have fully developed brains yet and will be mortified by their thought process a few years from now.”
“Good to hear it’s already beginning to skew away from him.”

Reynolds replied, “Surprising it’s mostly girls. At least, that’s what I’ve seen. And the really smart folks already know. Although the narrative at the moment is how insanely well the film is performing and how much audiences love it. So…”
Hoover, 46, reacted with a heart to his response.
As the private text messages came to light, a source close to Reynolds told Page Six, “It is no secret that Ryan was trying to protect his wife who was being targeted by a crisis PR team hired by Baldoni. This is the same crisis team who has been accused of these smear tactics in at least 5 other lawsuits according to the NYT.“
Earlier in the exchange, Reynolds mocked Baldoni’s crisis PR strategy by writing an imagined conversation between the filmmaker and his team.
“Yeah, when he uses a crisis team like that, you can start to see all the strategy they’ve equipped him with,” he wrote.

“Crisis team: okay, Justin, all you do is talk about DV and how wonderful Blake is. And we’ll handle the online stuff. No matter what, you keep up your feminist advocacy. And speak like an emotionally elevated thought leader. Understood?”
He then wrote Baldoni’s imagined response: “Justin: Namaste. Let’s get this bitch.” Hoover reacted with a laugh to the message, according to court documents.
“And I think the truth about him is already finding its way to the light,” Reynolds added.
In a separate Aug. 9, 2024, message to his agent, Warren Zavala, Reynolds described Baldoni as a “human rounding error” while celebrating the film’s success.

Representatives for Reynolds and Hoover did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment during production and a retaliatory smear campaign.
Baldoni denied her allegations and filed a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds and their PR team, which was dismissed in June 2025.
Lively and the remaining defendants in her case reached a settlement in May 2026.
