MAGA host Benny Johnson is openly celebrating President Donald Trump’s proposed census changes as a way to keep Democrats out of power.
On “The Benny Johnson Show,” the conservative host argued that excluding undocumented immigrants from the population count used to divide House seats would weaken Democrats in Congress and the Electoral College.
“Democrats wouldn’t have a shot in hell of winning a presidential election based on the Electoral College or ever having Congress back again,” Johnson said Wednesday.
He called the proposal “genius” and urged the administration to plow ahead.
“Shove this through. Shove it right down their throats,” he said.
Johnson made his goal clear on X, writing: “President Trump just ENDED Democrats ability to win elections again in one GENIUS move. This is how we win.”
The proposal would exclude noncitizens without green cards from the count used to allocate congressional seats, according to the Population Association of America, which opposes the change.
Political analyst Mark Halperin told Johnson that Trump’s proposal was “one of the most aggressive moves a president can make.”
Johnson predicted Wednesday that Democrats could lose 24 House seats, though he offered no state-by-state calculations to support his argument.
“I bet that all 24 would be Democrat seats,” he said. “Deleted.”
