Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor takes police to court over search warrants

LONDON — Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of Britain’s King Charles III, is taking legal action over warrants that allowed police to search his homes during his arrest in February.

Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, lodged a judicial review challenging the legality of the search warrants used at his home on the Sandringham Estate and his former residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor, according to U.K. media reports.

A High Court hearing will be held in private Thursday to decide whether documents related to the judicial review should be released, a judiciary spokesperson said.

Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, was arrested on suspicion of committing misconduct in public office after the release of documents revealing the extent of his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He has long denied any wrongdoing.

“Whilst our investigation into misconduct in public office continues, we are engaged in legal proceedings in relation to warrants previously obtained from the Central Criminal Court,” Thames Valley Police said in a statement.
