President Donald Trump accused a lone woman protesting his Washington beautification projects of being a paid provocateur, offering no evidence as he shared photos of her with his millions of online followers.
“How much is she being paid, and by whom?” Trump asked in an online post on his social media platform Truth Social. “She’s at all of my developments protesting. Others, likewise, are the same people. These are paid protestors, aren’t they?”
Alongside his baseless accusation, Trump shared an image of a woman who appeared to be participating in demonstrations opposing Trump’s Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovations and his proposed D.C. arch, which the president has since revealed would double as a major military installation, complete with “drones, plus snipers, on both the roof and plaza areas.”
Throughout his political career, Trump has frequently accused, without evidence, protesters of being paid agitators. He did so in early 2016 and has done so on numerous occasions throughout his two terms.
