Former Trump-pet Marjorie Taylor Greene has somehow reinvented herself as some sort of truth-teller and is even garnering praise from liberals for how forthcoming she’s being about Republicans and her former boss.
Yet this is still her pinned tweet.
That would be the same Marjorie Taylor Greene who claimed under oath that she “couldn’t recall” posting a video bragging about plotting January 6th that was filmed outside the White House before she was sworn into office.
The same MTG who, according to testimony during the House January 6 committee hearings, begged Trump for a pardon involving the Capitol riot days after she was sworn in. Remember when she joked in 2022 at a New York Young Republican Club gala that if she and Steve Bannon had organized the attack, “we would have won” and “would’ve been armed”?
She’s still the same MTG who verbally harassed Parkland survivor David Hogg in 2019 while carrying a loaded gun in her purse.
Yep, the MTG who held a contest for one lucky winner to join her in a helicopter to shoot wild boars, which she compared to Democrats.
And don’t forget the lurid details from her personal life regarding multiple affairs with men at her gym when she was still married to her first husband, the long-suffering Perry Greene.
Speaking of lurid, remember when MTG had a full-on obsession with the handsome Hunter Biden and kept bringing giant thirst trap photos of him (along with graphic photos) to Congressional hearings in 2023? I always imagined the employees at the Kinko’s closest to the Capitol cringing every time one of MTG’s staffers came in with yet another thumb drive full of Hunter pics that made him look like a Calvin Klein model shot by Herb Ritts in the ’90s.
No MAGA men look like Hunter Biden, which is why MTG went from Perry to Brian “Puffy Daddy” Glenn. He owns the right-wing propaganda network Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN), where Marge frequently appears as a guest. Marjorie announced a reality show of her own back in June, but so far it hasn’t surfaced
The expression “they deserve each other” comes to mind here.
Anyway, that’s just a small sample of why Still-At-Large Marge shouldn’t be given any credit for revealing anything about the Republican Party, because everything she says and does is meant to serve herself out of spite for never getting that pardon.
I don’t know why some Democrats are so quick to forgive all of her past transgressions, though I do know that everything she posts is meant to make Trump mad. But no one should give her a pass, especially since she’s still the same person she’s always been. She’s just pandering to the people who used to criticize her in an attempt to redeem her public image.
The expression “a broken clock is right twice a day” comes to mind any time I see a liberal account giving MTG any slack, considering she’s done a lot of questionable things both in and out of Congress. She literally threatened our national security with her participation in January 6th and, if the rumors about her running for president in 2028 are true, the whitewashing of her image is only going to get worse.
But let’s take a look at Marjorie’s appearance this week at the Texas Tribune Festival, where she claimed “MAGA is dead” and warned the crowd about holding Trump accountable.
“When you vote for someone, not only are you supporting them, but you’re holding them accountable,” Greene said. “And if they can’t be truthful and hold [Trump] accountable to his campaign promises that affect the entire country, then they’re liars, and they’re hypocrites, and they’re in a cult.”
Which is exactly the kind of stuff I used to tweet to her when she was in office, because every accusation is a confession from the MAGA Cult Trumpocrites.
She also perfectly played the self-victimization card, recalling the fights she had with her Daddy Trump, including being “yelled at in the Oval Office” and claiming that Trump texted her that she “deserved it” after her son received a death threat.
It’s just a little difficult to find any empathy for someone who’s spent the bulk of her political career bullying anyone and everyone outside of the Trump cult. We’re not going to forget that she supported Trump during three campaigns and proudly paraded around in MAGA garb while disparaging immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, and Jewish Americans. I still haven’t gotten any paychecks from George Soros, and I don’t own a space laser. And I haven’t heard her apologize for any of that.
Instead, Empty Gee made a “joke” about it in her “memoir,” which was published by Don Jr’s publishing company and got so many terrible reviews that Amazon had to shut off commenting. Devoting an entire chapter to address her anti-Jewish comments, she claims to have “no antisemitic sentiments whatsoever,” then goes on to cite her history of supporting military aid in Israel. “So, it turns out I actually support Jewish space lasers,” she concludes, while also making another antisemitic comment.
No one throws away all of their political ideologies overnight. Should we also be throwing our arms open wide to Tucker Carlson, whose personal line in the sand was Trump’s stance on Israel? They’re not suddenly finding their morality; they’re trying to stay out of prison thanks to their connections to Trump.
If MTG ends up running in 2028, I hope plenty of people will join me in reminding everyone about who she is and always has been. Until then, I want to see Democrats boosting Democratic messaging, not helping MTG grift whoever her base is. She doesn’t deserve any credit when the screenshots of Marjorie’s tweets about January 6th are forever.
May they all haunt her for at least that long.
