As markets brace for the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates again, hosts on Fox Business called for an immediate end to President Donald Trump’s deeply unpopular war against Iran, with one host warning that the Federal Reserve may trigger a recession with its impending decision next month.
On Wednesday, hosts on Fox Business’ “The Big Money Show” discussed the options currently being floated by the White House to combat surging gasoline and diesel prices, which include a ban on diesel exports — a plan analysts have warned could be disastrous.
During the discussion, Fox Business’ Jackie DeAngelis spoke out against the proposal to ban diesel exports, arguing that a federal gas tax suspension would be a better “short-term fix.” She then admitted that she didn’t “want to see any of these remedies,” and would prefer the Trump administration cut its losses in its war against Iran.
“I want to see an end to this war! I want to see a resolution to this war from the administration, whatever it is, one way or the other!” DeAngelis said.
“I want to see these gas prices and diesel prices come down for good so that Trumponomics, so that Big Beautiful Bill version one can start trickling in to the American families so they feel like it’s working.”
Another host on “The Big Money Show” agreed with DeAngelis and her call for the Iran war to come to a close, calling it “the name of the game because inflation expectations [have] gummed up the economy so much.” Furthermore, the host warned that the Federal Reserve, should it decide to raise interest rates again during its October meeting, could trigger a recession.
“They could potentially make the same mistake twice in October, and we can’t afford that because the two-ten spread in Treasuries is about 30 basis points wide,” the host said, referencing the gap between yields on two-year and 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds — a closely watched gauge of economic health.
“If they hike again, they could invert the curve, and if you invert the curve, 12 to 24 months later, you get a recession. So we’re playing with fire here — we do need that resolution so they don’t make the same mistake twice.”
