The Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona announced the discovery of a “new possible ransom note” connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance on Monday.
“The PCSD/FBI Guthrie Task Force was recently made aware of a new possible ransom note related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” the sheriff’s department wrote in a statement on X.
“Investigators are also aware of social media comments regarding the note and are looking further into the information to determine its credibility,” the statement added.
Page Six has reached out to the FBI and Savannah Guthrie’s rep for comment.
Multiple ransom notes were sent to TMZ and local Arizona news outlets after Nancy, 84, was reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills in Tucson, Arizona, on Feb. 1.
The first note, sent to TMZ on Feb. 2, demanded cryptocurrency payment “in the millions,” with two deadlines for payment on Feb. 5 and 9.
That same message allegedly said Nancy was “safe but scared” and described how she “had a white smart watch on the floor at the foot of her bed” when she was allegedly kidnapped.
The second note, sent on Feb. 6, claimed that Nancy was dead.
“We never intended to hurt her, that was not our intention,” the note allegedly stated. “She perished shortly after she was taken. We believe it was heart related. She is buried in nature now.”
“Nothing you could have done could have changed the outcome,” it continued. “We want your family to know this and hope you all can find peace. We are truly sorry.”
In August, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained that authorities released the two ransom noteshoping they’d “get some response from the community.”
“Investigators felt like there’s a number of pieces of information in these notes that it just might jog someone to say, ‘I’ve heard that,’ or [recognize] the wording, the style of the writing,” Nanos said.
“It might jog somebody to think about who would’ve written this, how was this done?”
Savannah, who has continued to beg the public for answers, spoke about the ransom notes during her first interview discussing the family tragedy in March.
“I believe the two notes that we received that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real,” the 54-year-old told her former “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb.
Savannah and her siblings, Camron and Annie, have offered a $1 million reward in their mother’s missing persons case.
