$1.5 billion has been spent on advertising for Senate and House races overall, an increase of $317 million from last week, according to a Washington Post analysis of data from the ad-tracking firm AdImpact.
Ohio’s U.S. Senate race continues to lead midterm advertising, with total ad spending increasing 22 percent over the past week, from $197 million to $240 million.
Texas has the second-highest ad spending, up 32 percent over the past week. Republican-aligned Texas PAC has surpassed Democratic nominee James Talarico as the top spender in the state’s Senate race, spending $2.9 million over the past week and $7.3 million in total.
The Republican Senate Leadership Fund PAC leads advertisers in total spending, investing $145 million across multiple competitive races, including $31 million in the past week.
