Holdout Juror in Lindsay Clancy Case Says He Didn’t Doubt Her Guilt

The lone juror who voted to convict Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts woman who was on trial this month for killing her three young children, said Friday that he did not have doubts that she was guilty.

In a statement, the holdout juror, Michael P. Desronvil, said that he was repeatedly cut off during deliberations while trying to propose theories about the case. Some of the other jurors had accused the holdout juror of refusing to follow the law.

“Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses and what the prosecution presented, I thought it was enough proof that she knew exactly what she was doing and planned,” Mr. Desronvil said of Ms. Clancy.

Mr. Desronvil, 48, released the statement through his lawyer, Edward Paltzik, who specializes in defamation litigation and has represented President Trump in lawsuits against CBS News and The New York Times.

The trial of Ms. Clancy ended with the jury deadlocked, 11 to 1, in favor of acquitting her on murder and manslaughter charges. She had admitted to strangling her three children, in January 2023, but her lawyers had argued she was in the throes of postpartum psychosis and should be absolved of criminal responsibility.

The case horrified and divided the country and prompted discussions of postpartum complications. Jurors deliberated for roughly 38 hours across seven days before the judge declared a mistrial.

Prosecutors have not said whether they will retry Ms. Clancy, 36, who remains in custody in a state-run psychiatric center.

Following the mistrial, intense scrutiny was trained on the jurors, and in particular on the holdout.
