  • Ed Sheeran resale ticket prices are down, according to the site Ticketdata.
  • Tickets in Philadelphia are down 17% over three days, the site found.
  • The drop-off comes after Macklemore was removed from Sheeran’s tour following his “Free Palestine” comments.

Ed Sheeran’s resale ticket market is going red.

Ticket prices for Sheeran’s LOOP Tour have been slipping on resale markets, according to the site Ticketdata. Of his next 10 dates, nine have seen price decreases in the last three days, the site showed.

Sheeran has been caught up in controversy since Macklemore was removed from the tour following his comments about the Palestinian territories at two concerts earlier this month. Macklemore said he was forced out by billionaire Robert Kraft. Sheeran said the decision wasn’t his, and instead blamed the tour’s promoter.

Sheeran’s resale ticket price slip

Want a ticket to Sheeran’s Saturday show in Philadelphia? The resale ticket price is down 17% in the last three days, according to Ticketdata.

The Philadelphia ticket decrease widens to 25% over a seven-day period, the site found.

Resale prices for Sheeran’s two performances at Massachusetts’ Gillette Stadium are down over three days, the site found, as were tickets for upcoming performances in Atlanta, Charlotte, Arlington, and the Florida cities of Hollywood and Tampa.

Only one city had positive three-day price changes, according to Ticketdata: Indianapolis.

A representative for Sheeran did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

The Macklemore controversy

When Macklemore was booted from Sheeran’s tour, he pointed the finger at Robert Kraft.

Earlier in September, Macklemore gave speeches at two concerts at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, saying “Free Palestine” and that he wanted the people in Gaza to know that “we have not forgotten about them.”

Macklemore was later removed from Sheeran’s tour. In an Instagram post, he said that Kraft, the billionaire owner of the New England Patriots, rallied other stadium owners to oppose his performance.

Kraft confirmed in a statement to local outlet WHDH that Macklemore was blocked from performing at Gillette Stadium, which he owns. His venue does not “provide a platform for hate speech,” Kraft wrote.

Sheeran released his own statement on Tuesday, saying the decision to remove Macklemore was made by his tour promoter in response to threats from the stadium venues. Sheeran also said that he was “appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine.”

The fallout has continued to grow, with Sheeran’s band and three openers pulling out of the tour later on Tuesday.
