President Donald Trump declared himself the nation’s “Hoax Buster” Monday during a rapid-fire series of three social media posts dismissing warnings that artificial intelligence could threaten humanity.
“The claim that ‘AI is going to take over the World’ is a Hoax,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform in the last of the posts less than 20 minutes after the first. He compared concerns about AI to global warming, “RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA,” “UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE,” or his two impeachments.
“These are all Radical Left Dumocrats, who never give up, but seldom win,” he wrote. “Hopefully, the Voters have seen the light!”
Minutes earlier, Trump debuted his new nickname while mocking warnings of an AI-driven apocalypse.
“I am the Hoax Buster, and I’m right now breaking another Hoax — That AI is going to take over, consume, and destroy the World, and that Robots will be marching into our Cities, and getting rid of us all!” Trump wrote.
“This is even wilder than the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, or the Global Warming Scam,” he added Monday. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump launched the series of social media posts by accusing AI critics of being “Revolutionaries, but Revolutionaries for a Bad and Evil Cause.”
“Soon you’ll find out they’re working for people that do not have the best interests of the United States in mind!” he wrote.
