Trump melts down after GOP suffers ‘ridiculous’ court loss: ‘Dark day for justice!’

President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to rage against the GOP’s massive legal loss in Missouri on Thursday.

“The Missouri Supreme Court just ridiculously ruled in favor of changing the maps back to what they were a long time ago. It’s called, Ancient History!” wrote Trump. “The problem is, according to Legal Scholars, that not only was the ruling horrible, ridiculous, and unConstitutional, but there won’t be enough time to change the map back with the Election coming up in a very short period of time.”

“The Election Process, as usual, is being disturbed in America!” wrote Trump. “Missouri must be able to use the map that was in effect just a couple of months ago, in the Primary. This is a Dark Day for ‘Justice’ in Missouri!”

Last year, state lawmakers in Missouri, at Trump’s direction, passed a controversial mid-decade gerrymander of the state, chopping up a Democratic district in Kansas City to try to create an extra Republican seat.

The group People Not Politicians successfully gathered the signatures for a ballot referendum that would temporarily suspend that map and give voters a chance to decide whether or not to keep it in November. GOP Secretary of State Denny Hoskins sat on the signatures for months, then decreed that referendum invalid, hoping he had run out the clock to reverse the map even if state judges overruled him.

The state Supreme Court disagreed, ordering the ballot referendum to move forward and the old map with two Democratic seats to be used in the fall, at least until voters have their final say.
