Many around the world looked in horror last month at images of a Ukrainian grandmother weeping as the body of her grandson was pulled from the rubble of his home following a Russian missile attack. Vladimir Putin is currently carrying out one of the deadliest assaults on the Kyiv region since the start of the war. The attacks will only escalate as the winter months approach, and the Russian president — reeling from Ukraine’s increasingly effective strikes on military and economic targets inside Russia — aims to strike critical infrastructure in an effort to freeze the Ukrainian people into submission.
