3 90s Songs That Shocked Everyone by Re-Charting Decades Later

Once a video is attached to a viral internet trend or used for viral clips, the song is then exposed to a whole new generation of music fans. This has happened multiple times in recent years. These four 90s songs found new life, shocking everyone by re-charting decades later.

“iris” by the goo goo dolls

Released in December 1998, “Iris” peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, it set a record on the Billboard Radio Airplay chart at the time, spending 18 weeks at No. 1. Following the song’s use in the 2024 film Deadpool and Wolverine and a recent internet trend, the song re-entered the Billboard charts. In June 2026, the song peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Rock Streaming chart. Users on TikTok used the nostalgic late-90s anthem to post what they were like in the 1990s, sharing old photos.

“creep” by radiohead

As much as Radiohead hates to admit it, their signature track continues to be “Creep”. Released on September 21, 1992, “Creep” peaked at No. 2 on the Alternative Airplay chart and No 6 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band fought for years to stray from their first hit of the 90s. Ultimately, the song just won’t go away. In recent years, the 1993 hit has been used for various TikTok trends. In May 2026, “Creep” entered the Billboard Rock Streaming Songs chart, peaking at No. 10. The track has now surpassed 2.9 billion streams on Spotify and has reached over 1 billion views on YouTube.

“what’s up?” by 4 non blondes

In May 2021, 4 Non Blondes released a remastered version of their 1993 album, Bigger, Better, Faster, More!. In 2021, their remastered single “What’s Up?” peaked at No. 19 on the US Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. This comes nearly three decades after its initial release. In 2025, a viral internet trend pushed the song back onto the chart, peaking at No. 11 this time around. In response, lead singer Linda Perry and the band have reunited and are currently recording a new album. Expected in 2027, the album will be the band’s second album. They never followed up on the success of their 1993 album, and due to a resurgence of popularity, fans will finally receive a follow-up.
