Taron Egerton name-drops the A-list actor he ‘snogged’ in unscripted scene cut from film

Taron Egerton kissed Tom Hardy in a “Legend” scene that “never made the movie.”

The actor dished on the unscripted smooch during Monday’s episode of the “Armchair Expert” podcast, confessing he had been “so pleased with himself” for making the move.

“There was a scene where he murders someone and gets back in the car and I was in the back of the car waiting for him,” Egerton, 36, recalled. “I grabbed his face, and I snogged him. And it wasn’t in the script.”

The actor remembered “backing off” afraid of his co-star’s reaction — but believes Hardy, 48, “loved it.”

“At that time, I think he quite liked my chutzpah,” Egerton noted, with Dax Shepard’s co-host, Monica Padman, calling the smooch “ballsy.”

He played Teddy Smith in the 2015 film, the “lover” of one of Hardy’s two characters — twins Ronald and Reggie Kray — and they never locked lips onscreen.

The “Kingsman” star explained, “We were depicting a bunch of guys in a hypermasculine world playing gangsters, but I was playing his lover so my job was kind of to subvert it all.”

Director Brian Helgeland, he noted, was “very open to [them] improvising and trying things out.”

Noting that “Tom loved this,” Egerton added, “I kind of grabbed that bull by both horns as well. I have all my insecurities and all my fears, but one thing I’m not worried about is I believe myself as an actor.”

Egerton admitted to Hardy being an “intimidating” colleague — but gushed that he had mostly been “excited” to work alongside the “unpredictable” Hollywood “heavyweight.”

Hardy’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

He addressed the movie’s improv moments in an on-set interview, saying, “[Helgeland is] an Oscar-winning writer but seems to delight in you not honoring what he’s written. He welcomes improvisation, not even suggesting things before a scene.

“I think he quite likes it when you surprise him,” Egerton continued in 2015. “There are endless opportunities to add little bits and bobs in. Providing you’re sensible with it, I think improvisation can really bring something to life.”

At the time, he also dubbed Hardy a “warm-hearted” and “very generous man.”

More recently, Hardy has been playing a fixer in a London-based crime family in his latest acting role as Harry Da Souza on “MobLand.”

While reports surfaced earlier this year that Hardy had been fired for clashing with his fellow cast members, he is reportedly still “in the fold” — and co-star Helen Mirren has continued to share her support for him and his “different [acting] process.”

In June, she told Variety, “As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there.”

The series has yet to be renewed for a third season.
