Perez Hilton in ‘serious but stable’ condition as he remains hospitalized after ‘suicide attempt’

Perez Hilton’s road to recovery is going to be a lengthy one.

The gossip blogger’s family shared a new update with fans Saturday, noting that he “remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act” and that his “condition remains serious but stable.”

“He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days,” they said. “His treatment and recovery will be a long process.”

The Baker Act (aka the Florida Mental Health Act) allows for temporary and involuntary detention of someone experiencing a mental health crisis, especially if it’s likely the individual might pose a serious threat to themselves or others, according to the Florida Department of Children and Families.

While Hilton’s family previously noted that he’s “able to communicate,” they clarified in the newest update that “his communication has been extremely limited.”

The latest statement also confirmed that Hilton’s three children “remain safe and are being cared for by immediate family.”

Hilton’s family have kept the public up-to-date on the celebrity blogger’s condition in the days since his apparent mental health breakdown Tuesday, when he was rushed to the hospital after livestreaming an apparent self-harming video.

In 911 dispatch audio previously obtained by Page Six, authorities responded to a call reporting a “suicide attempt” Tuesday evening at Hilton’s Miami home.

Cops were heard in surveillance footage obtained by Page Six calling out to the media personality to “please step out of the house” after identifying themselves as Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities ultimately decided to “tactfully disengage” while continuing to “monitor the situation” after confirming Hilton was alone inside. He was later transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains.

TikTok explained that “moderator error” was behind Hilton’s graphic livestream lasting 15 to 20 minutes despite the video going against community guidelines and being flagged for removal within minutes of it beginning.

The social media site noted in a statement to Deadline that it contacted law enforcement and subsequently deactivated and banned Hilton’s account following the unsettling livestream.

Since his hospitalization, Hilton (born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) has been surrounded by loved ones, including his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, and his sister, Barbara “Barbie” Lavandeira.

Hilton’s family previously confirmed that his children, niece and sister “immediately fled” the house “just minutes” before the livestream began, “when it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself.”

The move was made to protect the kids “from witnessing any further trauma,” with the statement noting that Hilton’s family’s “highest priority now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced.”

Hilton’s first words from the hospital following the scary incident were reportedly “I need help,” according to a Daily Mail source.

If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or text the Crisis Text Line at 741741.
