Trump official mocked for going ‘full Jeb Bush’ at event: ‘Where’s the laugh track?’

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins was mocked on Tuesday after suggesting to a crowd that it was time to applaud, reviving a decade-old meme.

Rollins was speaking at Minnesota Farmfest, where she touted the Trump administration‘s support for America’s farmers.

“With my boss, President Trump, what he was trying to figure out was if we’ve got to deliver on our promises,” Rollins said. “We promised a smaller government. We promised to deregulate. We promised tax cuts. We promised to get rid of all the crazy woke.”

“And the biofuels industry has never had a bigger backer, a more vocal backer, than my boss President Donald Trump,” she said. “This spring he announced — I think this may be due for another round of applause — the highest renewable volume obligations, RVOs, in the history of this program,” Rollins said.

The internet responded with mockery after her request.

Journalist Aaron Rupar shared the clip and commented on the moment and how similar it was to one in 2016 when Jeb Bush made a similar gaffe in New Hampshire on the campaign trail.

“Brooke Rollins goes full Jeb Bush: ‘I think maybe due for another applause,’” Rupar wrote on X, referencing the moment the former Republican presidential candidate asked a crowd to “please clap.”

Others had similar reactions to Rollins’ comments.

“Where’s the laugh track?” College instructor and political commentator Anthony M. Hopper wrote on X.

“Please clap 2.0: now with extra awkward pauses and zero crowd energy. Jeb is proud,” Parody account Conner Harley McDavidsonTM wrote on X.
