A political analyst sounded the alarm on Wednesday after Iranian state media shared a video threatening two of President Donald Trump’s family members.
David Pakman, host of “The David Pakman Show” on YouTube, flagged a video shared by Tasnim News Agency, an outlet he described as being affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, that threatened the lives of first lady Melania Trump and her son, Barron. The video, which was generated using artificial intelligence, was a “very detailed fantasy” of murdering Melania, followed by a separate threat for Barron, Pakman said during a new episode.
For instance, Pakman noted that the video contained several locations where Melania is known to travel around New York. It also included an ominous message for Barron at the end: “Wait for us,” Pakman said.
“This is a known thing meant to generate fear and terror, and that’s really the point of this,” Pakman said. “The feeling that we could get your family, regardless of whether they have anything to do with the decisions you’re making to attack the Strait of Hormuz, or power plants or civilian infrastructure.”
Pakman noted that the Secret Service is aware of the video and is “taking it very seriously.” Even so, Pakman said those kinds of threats can ruin Melania and Barron’s lives.
“Imagine being Barron and knowing that a media organization aligned with a very hostile foreign government that’s angry with your dad is saying, ‘ Wait for us, Barron,’” Pakman said. Or imagine being Melania and wondering … ‘Is that someone who is coming after me?’ It just makes your day-to-day life very difficult. And even if [there is] no attack comes, that fear can follow them everywhere.”
