Savannah Guthrie’s latest plea for her missing mom, Nancy Guthrie, contains subtle wording changes that could point to new developments in the case, according to multiple experts.
“Most folks will read it as another plea from a grieving daughter. It is that, first and last. But something in the wording shifted, and it is worth noting,” former FBI agent Jason Pack exclusively told Page Six Monday.
While Pack believes Savannah’s language is “consistent” with a family responding to something rather than “speaking into a void,” he noted that consistency is not the same as “evidence.”
“Only the investigators know whether a new communication came in,” he said, referring to unfounded theories that Savannah posted the video in response to a new ransom note or message.
Meanwhile, Former CIA member Tracy Walder exclusively told Page Six Monday that she believes Savannah “got another letter.”
“She’s answering specific questions. She does allude to the fact that some type of ransom was paid,” Walder said, referring to when Savannah said in the heartbreaking clip, “We have done our part.”
Pack also believes Savannah was hinting that she has taken some sort of action with that line.
“Five words, and not one of them an accusation. But it lands like a receipt. It says this family held up their end,” Pack said.
Pack pointed out that Savannah has been begging for the kidnapper to bring her mother home since she went missing nearly six months ago.
“For six months, this family asked for a person. ‘Bring her home. Return her to us. We will pay.’ This week, Savannah said, ‘Tell us where to look for her,’” he said.
“That is a different request than the ones before it. Where to look is not the same as bringing her back. What that means is not for me to say. It is her sentence, and she chose it.”
Pack noted another shift in language for Savannah in the way she was addressing her audience, saying that in previous videos, she was pleading with “whoever has her, or knows where she is.”
“That reaches anybody standing nearby,” he said, adding, “This week reads narrower.”
Referring to how Savannah said, “I know that you have tried to do things the right way,” Pack said it appears she is addressing “one person” and “not a crowd.”
“Six months in, the family may believe they know more about who is listening,” Pack said.
The “Today” show host, 54, shared an emotional social media video begging for the release of her 84-year-old mom on Monday.
“We are in a nightmare that will not end — nothing about our situation has changed,” she said while tearing up.
“We have done our part and we will never stop looking for her. We will always ache for her, feel that hole in our hearts,” she continued.
“The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place and I know that you have tried to do things the right way, so I’m asking you — begging you — to do the right thing now.”
“I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us — no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done — I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.”
Nancy was reported missing from her Tucson-area home on Feb. 1. Days later, authorities released horrifying security camera video clips of an armed and masked individualoutside of Nancy’s Arizona home on the night she vanished.
While several ransom notesare being investigated, no suspect has been arrested in the case.
